Natural Tooth Restorations

Natural tooth restorations are an excellent way to improve the esthetics and function of existing teeth.

There are 3 types of natural tooth restorations: fillings, crowns, and bridges.

Fillings are used to treat small holes or cavities on your teeth. The most common used material for fillings is composite resin because it is a similar color to your teeth.

Crowns are used to treat bigger issues that fillings can't. For example, if a cavity is too big, or if a root canal is done on a tooth, a filling may not provide enough strength to build the tooth back to normal. In this case, the entire tooth is shaved down to allow room for a crown to fit on top of it.

Bridges are made of multiple adjoined crowns, and are an option to replace a missing tooth or teeth. If the missing area is in between two existing teeth, then a bridge can be placed to fill the missing area, even if there are no roots to hold the new tooth. The new tooth will be held up by the two neighboring teeth.
