what to do after your dental surgery
Congratulations on completing your dental surgery!
The hardest part of your treatment is now behind you! You've taken a big step toward better oral health, and we're proud of your strength and commitment. In order for the best chance of healing, we need you to follow a few guidelines.

Take your prescriptions
You must take your antibiotics, which is the Amoxicillin 500 mg (or Clindamycin 150 mg if allergic), three times a day for one week to prevent infection. For pain, use Ibuprofen 600 mg every 6 hours for mild discomfort, and Tylenol #3 (300 mg/30 mg) every 6 hours for more severe pain—both can be taken together.
During the first week after surgery, rinse gently with warm salt water three times daily. Starting the second week, switch to using Peridex mouthwash three times a day.

Soft-food diet for 1 week
Soft foods include yogurt, smoothies, warm soup (no big chunks of meat or potatoes), Ensure, protein shakes, and ice cream. Avoid any foods/beverages that are very hot. Also, no bread for 1 week. You can go back to your normal diet starting the second week, but avoid chewing on the surgery area. Avoid any hard foods, such as chips or peanuts for 2 weeks.

No smoking or vaping for the first 2 weeks
This can cause harm to the surgical area, including possible infection, which can delay the healing of the procedure. It may also affect the overall success of the treatment as well. It will be best if you can avoid it completely until the treatment is done, but stopping for 2 weeks is a must.

Don't do strenuous exercise
Avoid heavy exercise for the first few days after your procedure (such as running, weightlifting, high-intensity workouts, or sports) as increased physical activity can raise blood pressure and disrupt the healing process. Strenuous movements may also disturb the surgical site and increase the risk of bleeding.
